RESOURCES

ALL OUR GARAGES, GARAGE APARTMENTS AND BARNS ARE DESIGNED BY STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS.

EXTERIOR COVERING

  • Size – Varies by design.

  • Columns – 4″ x 6″ Wolmanized, buried 3′-0″ in ground with one 80lb, bag of redimix per column.

  • Bottom Girts – 2″ x 6″ #2 Yello Pine or equivalent, spacing to be not more than 3′-0″ O/C.

  • Roof Trusses or Rafters – Clearspan engineered, Fink design with Kingpost or column and rafter design.

  • Truss Material – As required, generally 2″ x 8″ Top Chord, 2″ x 6″ Bottom Chord, 2″ x 4″ Webbing.

  • Truss to Column Connection – All trusses to be thru bolted to columns with 1/2″ hex bolts with 1/2″ washers on each side.

  • Roof Purlins – 2″ x 6″ #2 Yellow Pine or equivalent, spacing to be not more than 3′-0″ O/C.

  • Purlin to Truss Connection – Purlins are fastened to roof truss with 2″ x 6″ Galvanized Joist Hangers, fastened perpendicular to roof slope.

  • Door Headers – As required, overhead door headers are generally 2″ x 8″ members.

  • Sliding Door Frame – Sliding door frame to be constructed of 2″ x 4″ members.

STRUCTURAL

  • Roof Sheeting – Roof sheeting to be 26 gage steel with a galvalume base coating with a baked enamel finish. Roof sheeting is 80,000 psi Grade E material with a Twenty Year Warranty.

  • Wall Sheeting – Wall sheeting to be 26 gage steel with a galvalume base coating with a baked enamel finish. Wall sheeting is 80,000 psi Grade E material with a Twenty Year Warranty.

  • Trim – All trim to be 26 gage steel with galvalume base coating with a baked enamel finish. Trim is 50,000 psi Grade D material press broken and therefore it is not warranted.

  • Colors – Colors are to be selected from available standards. Currently, there are 20 to choose from. Colors may be mixed and matched (e.g. White roof, Light Stone walls and trim).

  • Fasteners – #10 x 1″ Woodgrips are used to attach sheeting to frame. #14 x 7/8″ Lapteks are used to stitch sidelaps and secure trim. 1/8″ Blind Rivets are used to fasten trim splices.
